The computers were allocated by former Oroquieta City Mayor and now 1st District Congressman Jorge T. Almonte through his Programs and Development Assistance Fund ( PDAF ) a congressional fund intended for the district. He said that when he was the city mayor he had distributed several computers and this is a continuation of the barangay computerization program. The funds used to purchase is channeled through the Federated Association of Barangay Captains chaired by Hon. Virginia Almonte and currently ex-officio provincial board member.
Present during the turn over ceremony were representatives from the City General Services Office, City Mayor's Office IT personnel, Barangay Captains, Rep. Atty. Jorge T. Almonte and staff, Barangay secretaries and suppliers.
Congressman Almonte's computerization program also includes municipal elementary and high schools. Several computers were allocated and given through the Department of Education ( DEPeD ) from his PDAF since he assumed office. (sidlak)3.28.2012 gls.
